This is a story from another country. Seventeen-year old Jessica Davies from Merthyr Tydfil in the U.K. was bullied by strangers and friends online. They wrote abusive messages to her. It was a horrific experience when she lost her friends; it made her feel sad and alone. She said, “It turned all my friends against me to the point where I had no-one left. It made me feel depressed and tearful.” Then she and three of her friends went to work with the Fixers charity that counsels youth from the age groups of sixteen to twenty five. There they made a movie on a bully and troll titled Someone is Wrong.
This movie is easy to understand and reveals how ugly and offensive a bully looks like. Jess Davies and her friends tried to create awareness and educate everyone on the effect of bullying. She says, “Most parents normally blame the internet, but the truth is it’s not the internet that’s the problem, it’s the people who are on there. One day they could be bullying the wrong person who is not in a fit state of mind to deal with it. I know it’s painful, and I know it’s hurtful. I would be happy if we made the bullies realise what they are doing because without the bullies there won’t be a victim.”
